KOMODO CONDITIONS
The wet season runs from December to March while the dry seasons run from April to November. Now, obviously with all the horrible things we are doing the world (don’t look at me, I recycle) the weather can be anything at anytime.
The calm seas and excellent visibility are waiting for you in dry season but it doesn’t mean you can’t go in wet season. Be prepared to experience stronger currents and reduced visibility. Your reward will be less crowded dive sites.

The easiest way to get to Labuan Bajo which is the launch point for trips to Komodo National Park is flying from Depansar (Bali). There are multiple direct flights daily and the trip takes less than an hour.
Be careful when choosing a flight as local Indonesian airlines are notorious for being delayed so leaving earlier in the day gets you the best chance of not getting stuck at the airport for longer than you need to be.
If you are coming in internationally, you can also fly via Jakarta, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
Labuan Bajo has in international airport and once you arrive, you are only 20 minutes away from the central town where you can stay for your trips.
The dive sites around Komodo contain so much diversity. You’ll see healthy and colorful coral gardens surrounding the island and marine life ranging from the super tiny to beautiful large beasts. More than 1,000 species of tropical fish, sea turtles, frogfish, seahorse, dolphins, reef sharks and of course the big flappy flappy: manta rays.
Komodo is a great place to do scuba diving courses because it will train you to become a stronger diver. You will experience wall diving, drift diving, slopping reefs and learning to deal with currents.
Learning to dive in a boring chill spot is all fine and nice until one day you dive with heavy currents and don’t know what to do. Might as well learn how to be strong from day 1.
The area around Komodo National Park is famous for Manta Ray’s that love the currents.
Whale Sharks are rare but are in the general area at times. But don’t be surprised if some dolphins greet you on the surface from the boat.
You probably already know the answer: YES. There are programs like the Try Scuba Discover Day for those who just want to try it out and see how it feels or you can do your full Open Water Diver Course and become certified.
Simple answer: they are all the same.
Longer answer: the agencies are just the ones who set the course structure and schedule and limitations but all the agencies have the exact same standards.
So at the end of the day it doesn’t matter which agency the dive center is with because your certificate will work worldwide.
Everyone usually calls it getting your PADI but this really doesn’t mean much and is just because PADI is one of the oldest agencies in the world so they did some really good marketing. Just because it’s older, doesn’t mean it’s better. 😉
We get it, commitment is hard. Normally we will do everything we can to get your booking in with one of our partners but to avoid disappointment it’s always better to get sorted before hand.
