THE TRY SCUBA DISCOVERY DIVE

What Your 1 Day Looks Like:

No experience needed. Your instructor handles everything – you just show up and get in the water.

Morning

Meet The team and head out.
6:30AM · Labuan Bajo

Meet at the dive center and head to the main pier where the boat is waiting. On the way to the dive sites, you’ll go over the basic theory and how to use your equipment.

Dive 1

First Dive: Shallow & Basic
Komodo National Park · Up to 6m

Your first time underwater with a certified instructor by your side the entire time. Shallow and calm so that you can learn some basic skills like clearing your mask if water gets in or what to do in an emergency (which won’t happen). Once you’re done, you’ll be able to start kicking those fins and see the underwater world around you.

Dive 2

Second Dive: Go A Little Deeper
Komodo National Park · Up to 12m

Now that you’re comfortable, you go deeper and explore a proper reef site. Mantas, reef sharks, turtles – this is Komodo. Back on the boat, you’ll have an awesome lunch and try to resist the urge to go on the optional third dive. PARK FEE INCLUDED

Came in a bit anxious as a newer diver and the team were reassuring from the off. The drift was faster than anything I had done but I managed it with the guide watching me. One gripe, the boat ride out was long and choppy so I felt rough before we even kitted up.

Very easy to organise from start, just picked dates online and saw availability right away. Diving in the park is no joke, the currents are fast, but the reef hook makes it manageable. Mantas at Manta Point were the best part for me.

Everything You Need To Know.

Who can do the Try Scuba experience?

Anyone age 10+, a basic swimmer, in reasonable health. No experience needed – it’s designed for people who have never dived before.

Do I need to be a strong swimmer?

You need to be comfortable in water. You don’t need to be a strong swimmer but you should be able to float and feel relaxed in the ocean.

What if I have a medical condition?

You’ll complete a short medical questionnaire before getting in the water. Common conditions (asthma, blood pressure, diabetes, recent surgery) require a signed doctor’s approval in advance. Send us a message if you are unsure and we’ll advise on what’s needed.

Can kids do it?

Yes, age 10+. Ages 10-14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and will dive with a dedicated instructor. A great family activity.

Do I need to study anything beforehand?

Nothing at all. Your instructor covers everything you need to know on the day before you get in the water. The briefing takes around 30-45 minutes and uses plain language – no exams, no homework.

How deep will we go?

Up to 12 metres. Your first dive will be shallow while you get comfortable, then your instructor will take you a little deeper on the second dive depending on how you feel.

Can I count this toward the full Open Water Course later?

Yes. Both the dive day and what you paid count toward the Open Water Course if you decide to continue. You just pay the difference. Most people who try it end up booking the full course.

What is the cancellation policy?

Free cancellation or date change up to 24 hours before your start date.
